Delphi SKYFi3 Interactive Demo

mkeefeDESIGN recently completed an interactive demo for the Delphi SKYFi3 portable XM radio. Using Flash 8 and Photoshop side-by-side made it very easy to develop this project.

The Flash demo offers the user to experience the entire radio with the exception of recording and playing songs. The demo sits inside of a presentation layer where Flash was also used to create a learning module for a viewer to learn about the SKYFi3 first hand.

Flash video was used to explain how the user interacts with their computer and the SKYFi3, for such tasks as playlist and mp3 management. XML was used to store the channel and song data. This portion has the ability to be live data such as what is found in the Pioneer Inno Flash Demo that was developed for XM411.com earlier this year.

Proud Owner of the Nintendo Wii

Nintendo WiiWhile vacationing in Florida last week I received a tip that Target would be getting a small shipment of Wii consoles. I got up on Sunday morning at about 4:30am, went to Target and stood in line for about 3 hours. I also picked up a couple of games and some spare controllers… well half of it since I can’t find any Nunchucks anywhere. This system took longer to get a hold of.

The setup process was quick and simple, the console is very small and the controller is unique. I quickly popped in Wii Sports and found just how fun an interactive game can be. The response time on the remote makes for some very interesting gameplay, for instance by twisting the remote a little bit you can apply a spin on the bowling ball or a hook in golf. I also picked up Call Of Duty 3 and was kind of annoyed with the controls at first, but as I continued to play it became a lot more fun.

It seems Nintendo designed the Wii to be a more interactive system and not just a cutting edge $600 entertainment system, which makes it a lot more fun for families which Nintendo has always focused on.

If you get a chance to pick one up I highly recommend it, now off to play some boxing… Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

Photoshop CS3 Public Beta Announced

Hello from Florida. Adobe announced the public beta of Photoshop today, this is the first time Photoshop has been on a public beta which is saying a lot for how great a company Adobe is. In this version you will notice much better speed on the “Mactel”. Adobe really made it a point to focus on this and they did a great job. The new “Clone Soure” tool now offers a much better way to retouch from multiple source documents. As seen in the article I wrote for Photoshop Cafe.

Some of the Features:
Clone Source
Smart Filters
Updated ACR
2600% zoom level
Black and White adjustments
Updated Bridge

Keep in Mind
This release of Photoshop CS3 is beta software.
Please post your comments and as always be a community member by participating in the Adobe Labs Forum.

The beta will be available on Friday.

After I return from my few days off I will be writing some more tutorials for Photoshop Cafe as well as my own scriptplayground.com.
