Adobe CS3 Announced

Adobe has posted the official info on all of the CS3 applications. Go take a look and get ready to move into the next generation of development and design. I know what I will be purchasing later this year. I also have to give credit to Adobe for making the icon choice work well on that mini-site and across the overall CS3 family page(s).

Also don’t forget to watch the CS3 event later today… 3:30 PM EST

Take a look at the Creative License mini site for an idea of what these new tools can do.

Unbox is Not Supported

After the release of Apple TV I have been looking around at different video services. One of those was Amazon’s “Unbox” which installs a player that connects to Amazon and downloads the movies for you to enjoy. I figured since Amazon has some other great services I would take it for a spin, but sadly noticed this section of the “System Requirements”. It basically says if you have a Mac, you are screwed!

Now my question is if so many other companies can build a cross-platform video application, why can’t Amazon? What’s really odd is Amazon is usually the one to “do things different” and this time they really haven’t even tried.

If I *really* wanted to test it out I could load it into Bootcamp or Parellels but it still defeats the purpose for most users.

TMNT movie

tmnt.jpgJust came back from the TMNT movie and have to say I was very pleased with it. The story was consistant with the older TV cartoon that I watched all the time. It was also interesting to be able to pick out the vehicles/accessories the turtles where using because I own most of them in toy form.

The special effects where neat but I wasn’t really expecting too much from that side of the movie, I prefer a better story over “shiny stuff” any day.

I was big into the turtles back in the day and had doubts about this movie, but after seeing it I recommend any turtle fan to go see this movie. The only odd thing was not hearing the theme song from the TV show.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… Heros in a half shell… Turtle Power!

LogoMaid steals logo from SimpleBits

LogoMaid.com is at it again. This assembly line for cheap, non-original logos appears to have taken the new logo from SImpleBits, modified the shape slightly, and tried to pawn it off as their own. A pretty long discussion takes place on this Flickr page between designers and someone who appears to be involved with LogoMaid.

Lift off — first Apollo app

I have developed a very simple Apollo application. The purpose was to get a handle on the API and basically experiment with Resize, Events, Chromeless and a few others.

Here is a screenshot of the application and I will probably post the “.air” file later on.

Also wanted to note that I have set up an Apollo information and resource site. At the moment it is a placeholder page but I will be updating it very soon.
