Flex 3 and Adobe AIR now in the labs

Adobe just announced the Flex 3 and Adobe AIR betas which can both be downloaded from the Adobe Lab. This is a big thing since it seemed like Apollo (now AIR) was slowing down but this should change that quickly.

If you happen to have an app you would like to show off head on over to CodeApollo and post it. Once I get some free time I will post up some examples and some articles on Scriptplayground.

Once again here is the download links: Adobe AIR, Flex 3 and Flash Player 9 Update

Stop stealing my bandwidth

A recent article on Broadband reports states that Time Warner Cable (TWC) is going to be implementing “packet shaping“. Which simply means you are punished if your a power user, so instead of upgrading the system they decide to punish you. Their argument is that “power users” hurt the rest of the network and in a way it may be true, still it doesn’t mean this is the correct action.

I am not with TWC but I know a few people that are and overall this is just the beginning.. how long until Comcast does  this and you know it is going to happen.

What can the customer do? Nothing really, cancel your service (for now) or go back to non-rich web viewing. For now, just speak up and let your ISP know this isn’t going to fly.. maybe with a little luck they will smarten up…

Worst logo ever

Well it’s official this hideous thing is the worst logo ever.. and I thought the Dairy Queen logo was bad. The torch has been passed and the Olympic brand has been flushed down the toilet.

London 2012

Seriously, how was this logo ever approved? Youthful, Alive.. no, more like #%@! disgusting. It needs to go back to the drawing board.. and I dont mean this logo, I mean the “creative” agency that designed it.

Welcome back screen name

* Begin Welcome Back Theme Song *

About 6 years ago I was surfing the net through AOL, of course I also thought frames were cool. During this time I was using the screen name “mkeefedesign” which I always knew would be the name of my design company. Well time marched on as it always does and I left AOL, of course unclear to me was the fact that when you register a screen name in AOL and not AIM it gets locked once you cancel.. not cool.

Well flash forward about 6 years (tonight to be exact) when I was registering a new name I decided to recover that awesome screen name by answering all of the “forgot my password” questions and ultimately ended up at a screen that not only let me reset the info but also re-activate it.

I am still not 100% sure how exactly it was released but I am happy as it works perfectly for my company and it was mine.. so if you have experienced the same situation.. go back and try to recover what is yours.

Flash Forward 07 - Boston

Just got an email from my friend Colin which said he is going to be a speaker at Flash Forward. This time around it is being held in Boston.. and you know I won’t be missing it. The conference overall looks like a great one and I look forward to attending these great sessions, it is going to take great skill in order to plan the classes I want to attend.

Adobe just releasing the CS3 Suite not too long ago will prove to be very interesting since I am almost positive the focus will be Actionscript 3, as it should be.

I will be posting updates from the show and also an overall review once I get back. For that matter I actually have a few great conferences and trips coming up in the coming months. Photoshop World in Vegas, Flash Forward in Boston and PhotoPlus Expo in New York.. this should be a year packed with a lot of conferences and a lot of photo-ops.
