Pownce.. send stuff

pownce_logo.pngPownce is an up and coming social network where you can send files to friends, post notes to the public and store content (pro account). At the moment it is in beta but I happen to have a few invite codes and would be more than happy to pass one along (if I still have it available).

Just leave a comment and I will be sure to send one along.. make sure you provide a valid email address when posting ( no need to put your email in the post )

Bonus, there is an AIR application to send notes from your desktop.

Clearly without originality

While reading some comments on a popular design site I decided to do a little poking around the posters site and quickly was introduced to “The38thSignal” which if you know design is some non-original attempt to be like 37 Signals a wonderful design and development web site as well as a group of the top people in the industry. Now this isn’t a direct rip, but clearly without an sense of originality and to even go as far as to host it on Blogger and use the same color scheme.. wow, just wow… well, I am off to register a new idea now 10Rules and AColumnApart ;)

Update:  After getting an email from a friend it has come to my attention that the site is in parody, but for reasons I have yet to understand.

Custom iPhone Part 2

Custom iPhoneI started off customizing my iPhone with iFantastic which was pretty cool, but really didn’t allow me to do all that much. Even with version 3 which was just released it still only allows tweaking when I really wanted to re-theme it, install apps and disable some standard features (autocomplete for one).

Enter AppTap from nullriver which allows me to install a “base application” offering access to a repository filled with hundreds of cool apps. I now have Instant Messenger, BlackJack and Terminal to name a few.

I should note anything you install or edit can seriously hurt your iPhone so do any/all modifications at your own risk. I am not responsible if you end up with a 500 brick.. however I should note I have performed many hacks and updates with no issues.

Now it is a race till 1.0.3 (1.1.1) of the phone software is released since I am guessing it will break this cool functionality.. however I will not be updating any time soon until I know it works.

Update: Version 1.1.1 is now available and it WILL NOT work with AppTap, so it is best to sit back and enjoy 1.0.2 for the time being and soon enough you will have a new AppTap to install.

Halo 3 — just around the corner

Halo 3

I have been working pretty much all of my weeks away.. and when I am not working I have been attending conferences all over. Well this Tuesday (Sept 25) I will be in line picking up Halo 3 and then I will be taking a long lunch to get my gaming on. Ideally I would dedicate a week to Halo 3 gaming, but I estimate it will probably take me 3-4 months to complete the game.. which isn’t a problem.

Hopefully #3 will leap over the others to be the best and most anticipated game in a long time.

Update:  I decided to stand in line on Monday at midnight, but the game still sits in the box.. hopefully I can unbox it and get some gaming in this weekend.

Up and coming designer

My cousin in Florida which is a Graphic Designer has just had her portfolio posted on her schools local web site. She also has some great Photography and even this early has great layout skills… a full Flash portfolio would be cool.. but we can’t have her competing with my line of work now can we. :)

Congrats Teisha, you really have learned quickly!
