PhotoshopCafe has just released a new training DVD on Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. This DVD is packed with 80 clips of important tips, tricks and techniques. The running time for this new DVD is over 7 hours but don’t let the size scare you, there isn’t one point where the information is stale or “filler content”.

Switching gears entirely for a moment. I (like most Amazon members) receive the “Deal of the Day” from Amazon via email.
I noticed a posting on Slashdot (/.) about Flash Flash Vulnerabilities that have been disclosed by a private group and some other security experts. The article in itself is not the most shocking thing, but more importantly the last line of it.
No patch in sight from Adobe, that’s the price to pay for depending on proprietary solutions.”
There is not merit or fact behind this comment, it is purely a jab at Adobe or any “proprietary” company for not adopting open solutions. Well guess what, I am all for Open Source (use it daily) but some things should stay the way they are. It is very common for someone to say Open Source is more secure but that has been proven to be a damn myth, yet people still say it…
This brings up a very good question. Would you want your bank system running on Open Source technology that anyone could look at??
Back to the Flash portion of the article, it is a serious issue, but I am sure Adobe is on top of it (aside from the fact of the holiday season).
… be cautious of what you believe to be fact, especially when the article makes numerous references to a book that is set to hit shelves in the next few weeks…
Adobe has released BlazeDS which is the server-based Java remoting and web messaging technology.
It will enable developers to easily connect to server distributed data and push data to Adobe® Flex™ and Adobe AIR™ applications to create a more responsive RIA.
This is a big step forward in the world of AMF, which on that note, Adobe has also published the AMF3 spec.
It will be interesting to see how these new announcements affect existing tools, such as AMFPHP.
Adobe has released AIR Public Beta 3
From those who don’t know:
Adobe® AIR™ is a cross-operating system runtime that allows web application developers to use their existing web development skills (HTML, Javascript, Adobe Flash®, Adobe Flex™, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications to the desktop.
I will post more once I install it and give it a good overview.
