MacHeist II

logo.pngMacHeist has been all the rage this past few weeks and I finally got a moment to write about it. Basically this site is the ultimate OS X software bundle valued at over $360.00 which is being sold for the low price of $49. When you purchase a bundle you get to determine which charities receive the donation and you can even split across all 10 of them.

Overall the concept has gained a lot of publicity and for good reason, some do think the concept is bad since they are making so much money from it and basing it on indie software, but I for one think it is a cool concept and have already bought my bundle of cool software.

iTunes Plus songs now 99¢

I just noticed that Apple has lowered the cost of iTunes Plus songs to the standard 99¢. This is a very interesting step forward in Apple proving that DRM is a waste of money and time. All it really does is hurts legitimate users that really like technology and have something like 10 devices that actively play Mp3’s.

Now if we can just get the RIAA to focus on good music and stop blaming the decline of sales on piracy, when it is obviously the crap they produce.

Leopard is available

for pre-order.. that is according to an email I got from Amazon. At first glance it seemed too good to be true and sure enough it was. Personally I am kind of tired of the pre-order thing, Halo 3 on order 8 months before it is out and now this.

Also I noticed that Amazon states it will lower the price if it does indeed happen, but do they raise it as well like the airlines do?

Now as far as the Leopard OS is concerned it looks very good and soon enough I will write my thoughts on it. I have been following this release from many angles, but this action by Amazon just struck me as a little misleading.. kind of like this posts title. :)

iPhone — my pre-launch thoughts

Well with the launch of the iPhone on the horizon I figured I would add my thoughts into the pool. First impression I wanted to pre-order that new phone, but after stepping back and looking at what it had to offer I began to really second guess myself.

The first gen phone won’t be 3G, only touchpad, no instant messengers, no mms and the list of not-available goes on. Then there is the fact it is rev 1 of Apple hardware.. just think back to the MacBook Pro’s.. need I say more. The other sticking point is the rumor that Cingular won’t be offering a no-plan purchase.. that leaves me right out as I am NOT resigning a contract.

I will update my thoughts once it is released and my good friend will be getting one so I can post back some first hand use info come end of June.

Product IconsThe public betas of After Effects Pro CS3 & Premiere Pro CS3 are both available for download at the Adobe labs site.

This has been a big year for Adobe, first releasing the public beta of Lightroom, then Photoshop and now these two programs. Just goes to show how close Adobe is to the community. Of course it also doesn’t hurt companies like Apple that will get some MacPro sales with the ability to run Premiere on the Mac once again.

Adobe also released beta 3 of Soundbooth today, seems that company was very busy this past week.
